Israel ‘Izis’ Biderman study of the circus positions him as one of the most adept, astute, and empathetic photographers of his age. Besides each of the gravure printed images sits a poem, written for the book by the great Jacques Prévert. And if that wasn’t enough, the book contains four magnificent circus prints and a dust jacket designed by another of Isis’ friends, Marc Chagall.
