"Kaddish" is about a son who is both mourning and celebrating the life of his mother. It stands in stark contrast to the wild, confrontational, and irreverent tone of "Howl". The piece shows a much more tender side of Ginsberg; Beats were, if nothing else, very human. And, believe it or not, they all had mothers, too.
